Intenthealthcare  recently returned from another trip to the Dominican Republic.  Working with residents at Gautier Hospital in Santo Domingo, we began the foundation of establishing a Voice and Swallow center.   Surgical techniques for  removal of a variety of  benign vocal cord lesions and large cancers were shown.    With donated instruments, residents learned to also perform Type I Thyroplasties which are surgical procedures to rehabilitate paralyzed and thin vocal cords. This was the first of these procedures to be performed at Gautier.  In the future , with the help of Intent donors, we will provide quality surgical instruments for the performance of these procedures that they currently do not possess.
